Help Create A Facebook Alternative For The Arts, Music & Events Industry
February 11, 2018
Dear Fellow Creatives & Industry Professionals
It’s time for something better than Facebook and LinkedIn and FMIN is ready to build it.
Over the past 12 months, you may have seen or commented on some of my posts which focus on what is wrong with our industry and how might we, as a community, might fix our own problems. My name is Joel Tiger de Ross, founder of Future Music Industry Network. Our mission is to facilitate the co-creation of a new music and events industry model through technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. If you have contributed to my posts, congratulations. Without realising it, you played a significant role in the ideation of a new social and professional network dedicated to supporting the arts, music and events industry. One that improves on the best aspects of Facebook and LinkedIn, does away with their most frustrating features and practices, while incorporating the best parts of Youtube, Bandcamp, BeatPort, Etsy, Eventbrite and more on a single platform. We are almost ready to build it, but before we do, we need your help in the following areas :
Join our team of passionate innovators. Several sections need to be completed and managed over the next 4 - 6 weeks. This is part of our final phase of User Interface/Experience Design and user feedback. To manage this phase we need approximately, 10 - 15 volunteers, contributing 1 - 2 hr per week, for 4 - 6 weeks. This is unpaid, however volunteers will receive significant value that money can't buy. It is more true than ever that success in this or any other industry is not determined by what you know, but who.
Volunteer team members will get the following:
Long term career mentorship from me personally in: Music production, a crash course in Masters level Entrepreneurship & Innovation and strategic foresight in leveraging emerging tech to stand out from your peers
Global Industry networks and contacts that will continue to open doors
FMIN is involved in many different creative and technology focused projects and events. If skills, experience and values align with a good performance during this phase, we may offer paid part-time and full-time positions
Wix experience prefered but not essential
